Moving Through The Layers
With Troy Hadeed in Tobago
April 22-29, 2017
WHEN YOU COME ON RETREAT WITH US:
We will open our eyes each morning to the rainforest and beaches of Castara, Tobago. After taking time to rise and enjoy the sounds of the sea, we will begin on our Mat to ground ourselves in what is essential our body, mind, breath and spirit. Evenings will feature a deepening embodied yoga practice that brings us home to what has always been there - love and our connection to the divine within us. Hiking through the protected Tobago Rainforest Reserve, enjoying the authentic fishing village of Castara, a half day snorkel to a beautiful Caribbean Reef will enhance our gratitude of the beautiful lush surroundings of this enchanted island.

Pre–Retreat Welcome dinner at Castara Retreats
Arrive at Castra retreats on the North Coast of Tobago and take your time to unpack and settle into your sweet bungalow for the week, or runaway for a quick swim. At 5:00 p.m. meet your fellow yogis on the Mat as we commit to creating a space for transformation. We will set the intentions for our week, connect to Spirit and invite prayer into our yoga as we move through a grounding practice. Afterwards we will share our first dinner together as we get to know each other and our staff while dining in the Treetops café.
• Establishing Relationship to Self
Looking at yoga as an in-depth practice of self-reflection Troy will lead us through our morning practice with a focus on creating relationship to ourselves, not only on the mat, but off the mat. We will enjoy our breakfast together at Treetops, and the afternoon is yours to wander the grounds, relax at one of the beautiful beaches, write in your journal, or do absolutely nothing. For our evening session Troy will share with us his views on relationship to self, cultivating Yoga in our lives, and the science behind it all. Our evening lecture may conclude with a light Asana or pranayama practice, follow by a delicious Caribbean style dinner.
• The power of Self-Inquiry
As we continue to hold the space for self-reflection and begin to build some heat in our practice, we have the opportunity see the aspects of our life that no longer serve us. Bringing new reflections into our asana practice can also bring new reflection into our lives. After practice enjoy a relaxed breakfast and explore the island as you wish; today lunch will be on your own, to give you the freedom in your schedule to journey and be curious about this beautiful island. We will meet back on our mats for an introduction to inversions as we discover the power in changing our perspective and acknowledging fear.
• Immersing ourselves into Accountability
Today begins, with a silent walk and meditation into our Asana practice. We will continue to deepen our practice through mindful movement and constant reflection; we see more and more that our practice on our mat reflects how we show up in our lives in so many ways. After practice there will be an all-day boat trip with a mixture of snorkeling among coral reefs in hidden coves, fishing with hand lines, and time on the beach at Paradise Bay with a lovely barbecue lunch and and rum punch if that serves you. Paradise Bay is idyllic with good swimming and snorkeling, and shade. Tobago’s coastline is stunning - seeing it from a boat is wonderful. Dolphins will sometimes be seen from the boat, if they’re friendly people can jump in and swim with them.
. Our evening session here is a surprise and will be catered to the needs of the group.
After setting the foundation to really deepen our practice on and off the mat we move beyond the comfort zone as we continue to hold space for each other on the mat, as much as off the mat. Maybe today is the day you get that Spa treatment you have been longing for or settle into conversation and connection with someone you have met. Our evening session lends to a restorative softening practice and reminds us of the power in surrender..
• Creating Space
Re-establishing ourselves in the stillness of our silent morning ritual we move into another solid practice that is focused on opening up and preparing the Being to receive all the love it desires while creating all the possibilities we can imagine. Together we will enjoy a walk through one of the most protected rainforests. Newton George - Tobago’s top ornithologist has a passion for birds and wildlife is inspiring to anyone – people don’t need to be necessarily ‘into’ bird-watching. We will depart 6:30 am when the birds are at their best, and the rainforest isn’t too hot.. Our evening session today will be a little longer and with more opportunity to explore. We will get a closer look at safe backbends.
• Staying Rooted and Open
The silence we hold in the morning will become more powerful and today we move into Asana practice with more focus on foundations of our postures. Discovering the root of each posture brings us to ask, “ What do I stand for and represent? What is my foundation?”
Our evening session today will intend to support you as you open up to create all the change you want to see in your life.
So much doing…. Today as we get ready to close our retreat we remember the power in Being. An early morning powerful practice seals everything in as it becomes part of who we are. We will never be the same as we were yesterday, your Yoga practice may just have changed forever….. you decide.
